
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) plays as a striker. She is also captain of San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division of professional women's soccer. From 2018 to 2020, she was co-captained America's women's national soccer squad together with Megan Rapinoe. In the months following her graduation early from the University of California, Berkeley, where she played with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional there , and was a key player in the team's winning the league title. Morgan was 22 at the time, and was the youngest player in the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. She scored the match-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final game during the 2012 London Olympics. She was the second player in the United States to have 21 assists and 20 goals for 2012, making her the youngest and sixth most prolific athlete in the nation to score 20 goals in a single year. Following her selection as the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year Morgan was also selected as a FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan helped the United States win their titles at the 2015 and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, in which she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019.
